Our first ever intake of girls into our co-educational Sixth Form took place in September 2008, with around 35 girls joining each year. A huge amount of planning and development took place to prepare for the girls, which included the building of a new boarding house and getting the staff and facilities in place to offer additional sports and activities. A second girls' boarding house is due to open to a further 60 girls in September 2011.
A Head of Girls' Games, Nicola Thomson, was appointed some months before the girls' arrival in 2008, and the girls have their two core sports with her - Hockey and Netball. Hockey is the primary sport in the Michaelmas term, and Netball is the main girls' sport in the Lent term.
In addition, girls have the opportunity to take part (and compete) in the traditional Shrewsbury sports such as Rowing and Fives, as well as the more mainstream sports such as Squash, Swimming and Tennis.
