Drama
Drama forms a major part of the Shrewsbury year. From the outset, pupils are encouraged to take part in a diverse programme of exciting and stimulating theatre projects, including events devised and directed by themselves. As well as a thriving programme of house plays, each year sees two major productions at school level: for junior boys, a riot of colour and action for Speech Day, and for seniors, the main School Play in either the Michaelmas or Lent term, which is usually a work by Shakespeare or a major musical.

Shrewsbury prides itself on the quality of its productions, which are held in high regard at the Edinburgh Festival, where we tour every two years, and increasingly in London, where several home-grown musicals have been presented at Covent Garden and at the Royal College of Music. Boys and girls gain a huge amount of experience here, and a good number continue to study and work in the performing arts after Shrewsbury.
