Meet the Housemaster...
Paul Pattenden took over as Housemaster of Moser's Hall in Steptember 2010.

Paul studied at Oxford University (St John's College), where he stayed to complete a doctorate in physics based at the Clarendon Laboratory. As a keen college oarsman, Paul was also Senior Umpire of the Oxford University bumping races – invaluable preparation for running the far more important Shrewsbury School 'Bumpers' regatta in more recent years.  Paul first taught at Pangbourne College in Berkshire, followed by seven years at Tonbridge School in Kent where he eventually became Head of Physics. Paul and his family moved to Shrewsbury School in 2004.

Beyond the classroom, Paul enjoys the chance to get involved in school sport, with rugby and rowing being particular favourites. At Tonbridge School he ran U14 Rugby, the school Golf Club and the Hockey 3rd XI (though not all at the same time!). Since moving to Shrewsbury he has concentrated on rowing coaching, with a number of national successes at J14 and J15 level in recent years. Paul has been a deputy Housemaster in The Grove and Churchill's Hall, where he was the Senior House Tutor.

Paul is married to Jane, and they have two sons - Adam (2001) and Joseph (2003). Jane is also an Oxford physics graduate and she has a D.Phil. in atmospheric physics. After spending a number of years working as a quantitative analyst in the City, Jane re-trained as a teacher in 2006 and joined the physics faculty at Shrewsbury in 2008.
