  • Shrewsbury School Foundation Annual Telephone Campaign, 3rd - 24th July 2017

Following on the heels of a tremendously successful parents’ calling programme in March, Shrewsbury School Foundation will be conducting its annual Telephone Campaign in July. As many of our supporters realise, the annual charitable gifts received from Old Salopians and parents form the building blocks of giving at Shrewsbury School. For well over ten years the Foundation has appealed to parents and Old Salopians for vital bursarial support which is a priority for the School.

This year a unique appeal has truly resonated with parents. As the Moser Library’s funding is complete, thanks to large charitable gifts, many parents have chosen to donate funds in support of items such as IT equipment, eBooks and furniture. This will enable their own children and others to take full advantage of the new facility.

On behalf of Shrewsbury School, please accept a heartfelt thank you for your charitable gifts which make a huge difference to teaching and learning here at Shrewsbury.

  • Parents' Telephone Campaign
    31st January - 25th March 2017

For the first time in the long history of the Shrewsbury School Foundation a separate Parents’ Campaign was conducted. Our student callers asked parents for essential support for the soon to be redeveloped Moser Library and also for bursaries for qualified means-tested pupils.

Through the generosity of our parents and Old Salopian lead donors, Shrewsbury School has secured the necessary funds to begin construction on the £1,000,000 redevelopment of the Moser Library.  However, in order for our pupils to take full advantage of this outstanding new facility, funding for the extras inside the Library are necessary.

Our callers did an outstanding job conveying this urgent message. They spoke to 330 current parents during the campaign and we are pleased to report that parents supported this most worthy cause, pledging £69,125.  When asked, our parent donors said they identified with the Library’s direct impact on teaching and learning at Shrewsbury. Thank you to those parents who made a charitable gift.

Although the campaign has now finished, if you would like to make a gift please either download our gift form or go to

  • Empacher VIII Boat Donation

A new Empacher VIII was generously donated by Jonathan Beeston (Rb 95-00).  Jonathan was a member of the 1st VIII in 1999 and 2000 and Captain of Boats in 2000 at Shrewsbury School. The boat was named after Jonathan's father Robert Beeston, who was sadly unable to attend, but both Jonathan and his Mother, June were able to join the Headmaster and Sabrina Captain Nick Randall (O 72-76) for the naming ceremony.

Also in attendance were the boys and girls of the RSSBC who were grateful for Jonathan’s investment in Shrewsbury School’s Rowing Programme.  Shortly after the naming ceremony, the newly christened VIII was launched by Shrewsbury’s 1st VIII crew.
