News in Depth

Hardly a day passes at Shrewsbury without something happening that is newsworthy, whether it be an academic achievement, a sporting success, a lecture, quiz, play, musical performance or any other extra-curricular activity.  In addition, there are other traditional events that take place every year such as school plays (Senior and Junior), house plays, concerts, various races (Third Form Race, The Tucks etc.), the House Singing Competition and frequent inter-house sporting contests, to mention but a few.

We try to keep up with these events on the website and post current news highlights on the Home Page.  More detailed news will be found under the appropriate headings - for example, there is a Latest News section under Sport, where all our Sports News will be found, but there are also individual Latest News sections under Cricket, Football, Rugby etc.

Our Weekly eNewsletters are published on the website on Thursdays during term time.  Although intended primarily for parents, they are also of interest to friends of the School and the local community as they give a round-up of the latest news along with details of forthcoming events and other notices.

The Headmaster writes a letter to every parent towards the end of every term and occasionally during the course of a term.  These letters outline some of the school’s major events and achievements, and usually give some details about future events too. Please follow the links below to the most recent Headmaster’s letters:

Twice a year, the School publishes 'The Salopian'. This magazine is sent to current and former parents and Old Salopians, and covers both School and Old Salopian news in considerable detail.. The latest editions can be downloaded from the Old Salopian section of our website.

We also produce 'Shrewsbury News' twice a year, primarily for prospective parents.  Please see the Admissions section of the website for more information.
