A feast of music to enjoy this weekend
On Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th November, the Music Department and pupils at the School, along with the Choral Society, will be giving their annual St Cecilia Concert performances at 7.30 pm each evening in the Alington Hall. Tickets are free for both evenings, with a retiring collection in aid of School charities. The programme is the same for both evenings, and we would love to see as many parents, friends, staff and pupils as can make it to either performance. There is a wonderful variety of music in the programme, and some real highlights.
On Sunday 17th at 11.30 am there is also a Concert for Children in the Maidment Building, lasting about one hour. This is a wonderful chance for families and younger children to come along and get first-hand experience of perhaps new instruments, and to hear yet more of Shrewsbury's talented young players in performance. Admission is free and coffee and soft drinks are available beforehand in the Maidment Building.

Charity Fund Raising - a letter to parents from Mrs Lesley Drew
The School's charity fund raising work is coordinated by a student-led Charities Committee. Last year, the School raised £30,000 for a range of charities. Mrs Drew's letter to parents includes brief details of the charities that the School is supporting this year, together with a list of some Fund Raising Diary Dates - including The Blues Brothers' Great Escape, a staff review (9th December) and an All-Night Sponsored Sports Event (14th February). In a new initiative, pupils can now use their School Shop and Quod Cards for charity events and donations. Please see Mrs Drew's letter for full details: Charity Fund Raising at Shrewsbury School
