Final Call to sign up for the Spanish Faculty Study Visit: 18th - 23rd October 2014
Stuart Cowper, Head of Spanish, is organising a six-day trip during the October Half-Term Exeat to Galicia in Spain for all pupils studying Spanish at either GCSE or A level. Please see his Letter to Parents for more details. You can also download the Parental Consent Form. The final date for signing up for the trip has been extended to Monday 3rd February.

For parents of Fifth and Sixth Formers - Exam Leave 2014
In order to help candidates to prepare effectively for public examinations, Shrewsbury makes a period of 'Exam Leave' available to all pupils in the Fifth and Sixth Forms. Please see the Exam Leave arrangements for next term: Exam Leave, Summer Term 2014

Old Salopian Tour of the Somme, 23 - 27 April 2014 - a few places are now available for Shrewsbury parents
The Salopian Club has organised an all-inclusive tour of the Somme Battlefields from Wednesday 23rd to Sunday 27th April 2014.  They have been fortunate to secure the services of Old Salopian historian and professional tour guide, Peter Caddick-Adams (Ch 1974-78) who will be leading the tour.  A few places are left, so the Club is now able to open booking to any parents interested in attending. Places are limited and need to be booked by 1pm on Monday 3rd February. Please see the article in 'Latest News' below for full details.

Shrewsbury School's February and Easter sports courses for children
Shrewsbury School's Academy and Sporting programme for the February half term and Easter holidays includes courses for children and young people aged 4 - 16. Courses are on offer in Tennis, Trampolining, Fencing, Archery, Canoeing, Swimming and Lifeguarding (ages 16+). Please download the full programme for further information.

‘Shrewsbury School in London Day’ – Sunday 9th March
On Sunday 9th March, Shrewsbury School Symphony, String and Wind Orchestras and Brass Ensembles will be performing in the Cadogan Hall, one of London’s most prestigious concert venues and is situated just off Sloane Square.  All members of the Salopian community are warmly invited to come and join in what promises to be a gala occasion with a wonderful programme of music.  The concert starts at 6.30pm and tickets are £10 – please see ‘Forthcoming Events’ below for full details.

Please note that we will also be running “Supporters’ Coaches” from Shrewsbury for just £25 per person, which includes a ticket to the concert. They will leave at 9.00am and return after the concert, giving you plenty of time to enjoy a full afternoon in London. To reserve a place, please contact Darren Wood on 01743 280812 or email

We are also inviting children aged up to 13 to come and enjoy a fun afternoon of Music and Science activities in the Cadogan Hall, including a presentation from special guest Chris Packham – naturalist, photographer, author and BBC broadcaster.
