Notices to Parents

A message from the Careers Fellow, Dr Kate Daubney:
Two or three times a term, I will be sending out a Careers Newsletter to all Sixth Form pupils, a printed copy of which will also be available in the Careers Library for all pupils to read whenever they want to. Parents can also read the newsletter if they would like to, via this link: Careers Newsletter, March 2014.

The newsletter gathers together some of the latest news about careers trends, schemes and programmes of relevance to Sixth Form pupils, and also highlights what activities and services we are offering in the Careers Library. In this newsletter, I list some of the School Leaver Programmes which are now being offered by some of the biggest companies across a range of sectors, particularly those who also normally recruit university graduates. School Leaver Programmes vary widely from short apprenticeship-style schemes that focus on skill development, to those which are longer and include professional qualifications and even degree study.

I am also recruiting speakers from the Old Salopian and Parent communities for this year’s Lower Sixth Careers Fair, to be held in June. Some professions are already covered, but I am still looking for speakers in others so if you are interested in speaking about your professional experiences either at the Fair in June or next academic year, I would be delighted to hear from you. You can email me at ksdaubney@shrewsbury.org.uk or telephone on 01743 280510. I look forward to hearing from you.
