Notices to Parents

Salopian Week and Speech Day
Copies of the Salopian Week and Speech Day programme have been sent to all parents. It is also available to view on the website at http://www.shrewsbury.org.uk/salopian-week-2014. We look forward to welcoming you to as many of the events as you are able to attend. Please send your ticket requests to Dawn Dunn as soon as possible. Please note the following amendments to the published programme:

  • On Tuesday 24th June, the Inter-House Athletics Tournament at the London Road Sports Ground will begin at 1pm rather than 2pm (to allow spectators a chance to return to a TV screen for the England World Cup match that evening).
  • On Friday 27th June at 11am the cricket match v The Saracens will be the School 2nd XI only, and not the 1st XI.

Please also note that the Headmaster's Report to Parents and Prize Giving will start at 11.00am (as in the programme) and not at 11.15am as published in the Fasti.

The newsletters gather together some of the latest news about careers trends, schemes and programmes of relevance to Sixth Formers, and also highlight the activities and services offered in the Careers Library. They are published on the School website and printed copies are available in the Careers Library. The latest edition can be viewed via this link: Careers Newsletter, June 2014

Concerts at Shrewsbury School next week
If anyone is within reaching distance of the School at lunchtime on Monday 16th June or in the early evening of Wednesday 18th June, there are two wonderful concerts taking place.

  • On Monday at 1.30pm in the Maidment Building, Galin Ganchev (M LVI) will be performing Schumann's Piano Quintet in Eb major with Calvin Chan (I LVI) and Jonathan Cheng (I LVI) on violins, Cindy Lin (EDH UVI) on viola, and Kevin Jim (I V) on cello.
  • And on Wednesday at 6.30pm in the Chapel, trumpeter Victoria Rule will be joining Director of Chapel Music Alex Mason (organ) to perform works by Purcell, Bach and Petr Eben. Victoria is in high demand as soloist, orchestral and chamber musician and has performed with groups ranging from the London Sinfonietta and the New English Ballet to the band Elbow. She is also the sister of Charlotte Rule, Geography teacher and Assistant Housemistress of MSH. Full details of both concerts are under 'Forthcoming Events' below.
