St Cecilia Concerts, Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th November, 7.30pm in the Alington Hall

The annual St Cecilia Concerts are a major highlight in the School's musical calendar, performed by the combined forces of the Shrewsbury School Community, Chapel and Chamber Choirs, Symphony Orchestra and Wind Orchestra. There's a real feast of musical treats this year, with a programme that includes the first movement of Dvorak’s wonderful New World Symphony, Beethoven’s dark and dramatic Egmont Overture, Arutiunian’s Trumpet Concerto with soloist Frank Coughlan (SH U6), and a radiantly serene and uplifting work by one of the UK’s leading current choral composers, ‘Requiem’ by Bob Chilcott.

Further details are under ‘Forthcoming Events’ below. Tickets are FREE and will be available on the door or booked in advance at

Shrewsbury Foodbank Plus Christmas Fair, Sunday 17th November, 11am - 4pm in Quod

We're very much looking forward to hosting the Shrewsbury FoodbankPLUS Christmas Fair in Quod this Sunday. There'll be lots of different stalls selling all sorts of lovely high-quality gifts, food and local produce - including exciting new House mugs specially created by our Global Social Leaders group, and Shrewsbury School Christmas cards designed by the Headmaster.

This is a wonderful community event, with the Shrewsbury School Parents' Association, pupils from the Global Social Leaders Group and staff of FoodbankPLUS all working together with local stallholders from across Shropshire to raise vitally needed funds for our local Foodbank - which is a lifeline for many of the most vulnerable people in the local community.

Entry to the Christmas Fair is £5 for adults, which includes a glass of mulled wine or hot drink plus a mince pie. (Free entry for children.)

Please enter the School Site via the Porthill Road entrance and follow the signs.

A reminder that donations of cakes, toiletries and items for the raffle will be gratefully received. They can be left at the School Reception on Saturday 16th November from 8am to 11am. Many thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
