Athletics has a long and proud history at Shrewsbury and has been enjoying something of a resurgence in recent years. The annual Inter-House Athletics competition was revived in 2012 and a new House Trophy introduced: the Tisdall Cup, named after the champion hurdler Robert Tisdall (M 1921-26), who won a gold medal for Ireland in the 1932 Olympics in Los Angeles.
The competition is now a major highlight in the Salopian calendar, with hundreds of pupils taking part. We very much hope that as many parents as possible will come and enjoy cheering on the athletes as they compete for their House on track and field.
The event takes place at the athletics track at Shrewsbury College of Art and Technology, London Road.
Please make use of the parking facilities at Shrewsbury Cricket Club, just a little further down London Road on the opposite side (postcode SY2 6PT for those using satnav). The venue itself will have no parking availability.
The events will start at 1.00pm and finish by around 5.00pm. A full programme will be available on the day. Teas, coffees, ice creams and cakes will be available.
