John Alford, renowned artist is holding A ONE MAN SHOW private viewing on Friday 12th April, 7-9pm at Gallery3, The Gateway, Chester Street, Shrewsbury, SY1 1NB.
The Gateway is open Monday to Friday 9.00am to 4.30pm.
The show will run from 9th April to the 17th May 2019.
John Alford was born in Kent in 1929 and trained at Camberwell School of Art under Gilbert Spencer, Richard Eurich and Bernard Dunstan. He has exhibited at the Royal Academy, Royal Society of Marine Artists, Royal Society of Portrait Painters and the Royal West of England Academy. He has been elected to membership of the Royal Society of British Artists and the New English Art Club. He has had numerous one-man shows in South Africa, France, Canada and the U.S.A. as well as in this country. Many of his paintings are in public and private collections at home and abroad and include commissions from the Royal Navy and the Royal Canadian Navy.
Alford was former Art Director at The Shrewsbury School. Alford retired from the school in 1989 and his paintings focus mostly on the Shropshire countryside.
