The Henley on Thames WW1 Remembrance Association have researched the Men of Henley and the Thames who competed in the Henley Regatta and subsequently died during WW1. There are 473 rowers who died, 15 of whom are from Shrewsbury School. They are remembered as part of an exhibition which will be staged at the Old Fire Station Gallery immediately behind the Town Hall in Henley over Henley Week. Entry is free, and open from 10.00am until a couple of hours after the rowing each day. Every rower has a page in a series of Memorial Volumes, with, where possible, a picture of them or their grave/memorial. There will also be a memorial board on which each man will have a four line entry. Please support this commendable initiative if you are visiting Henley for the Regatta.
