There has been a spate of sporting achievements for our Salopians over the last week, with pupils competing at both national and local events.
Shrewsbury School’s Girls’ 1st XI cricket team were crowned champions of The Cricket Paper’s National Schools 100 Ball competition 2021.
On Saturday, 134 pupils took place in the annual Third Form Race which sees our youngest Salopians run a one-and-a-half mile figure-of-eight course around the school site.
The 2021 edition of the Henley Royal Regatta took on a new complexion with the regatta shifting to mid-August instead of its regular July slot.

In a normal year, many Salopians would have played in the National Schools’ Championships in the last week of the Lent term. For two consecutive years this biggest event of the fives season has not been able to happen.
On Saturday, May 8th, the third form rowers had their second opportunity to get out in small boats at Bomere Pool.
On the first weekend of the half term the Senior and J16 rowers travelled to Dorney Lake in Buckinghamshire to race at the National Schools’ Regatta.

On Sunday the 1st VIII took on Monmouth School in a friendly home fixture to sharpen their skills in the lead up to the National Schools Regatta.
The Hunt Runners were out in the countryside for the first time this year.

On Saturday the Boat Club took eleven crews to race in a match against Eton College at Dorney Lake.
Shrewsbury School's cricket season is continuing an impressive run, as last week saw three of our girls’ team cricketers play for the boys’ team.
The Shrewsbury School pupil crossed the line in 2:02.92, smashing his own PB as well as the UK U15 Male title for 800m.
Despite not be able to run the annual training camps, rowers enjoyed a two-day session on the water.
