All students and staff have been out today, taking part in a twenty-mile walk over the Long Mynd from Plowden to Pontesbury, via Ratlinghope and Stiperstones. A small group ran the course, but the rest took it at a more leisurely pace.
A whole-school sponsored walk is organised every five years, in aid of Shrewsbury House ('The Shewsy'). It is an opportunity to raise a significant amount to help this youth club in a deprived area of Everton, which is itself one of the most deprived constituencies in Europe.
Sixteen coaches were provided to transport the walkers at the start and finish of the walk, and there were frequent checkpoints along the way. Lunch was laid on by our catering staff at the Brow Farm campsite in Ratlinghope.
