Celebrating success in the England Hockey Talent Academy Cup

Shrewsbury School is proud to celebrate a group of talented hockey players who represented Shropshire Hockey at the National County Hockey Championships in July.

Congratulations to Tamika C (III, M) on her selection for the England Hockey Talent Academy Cup, representing North Staffordshire Talent Academy. The competition is an important selection pathway for the England U16 and U18 squads, making this a fantastic achievement.

We are also proud to see Mr Hennessy coaching the Stourport TA Boys and Miss Ralphs coaching the North Staffordshire TA Boys.

It is brilliant to see Shrewsbury pupils and staff competing and coaching at such a high level, with their hard work and dedication continuing to pay off.

The tournament brought together teams from 24 counties across England for an intensive three-day competition hosted at the University of Nottingham. Players competed in seven matches, testing themselves against some of the strongest young hockey players from across the country.

The players demonstrated outstanding commitment, resilience and teamwork throughout the competition, representing both Shropshire Hockey and Shrewsbury School with distinction. Competing against some of the best young players from across the country provided a fantastic opportunity to develop their game and gain valuable experience in a high-performance environment.

The National County Championships are an important part of the player development pathway, and it is wonderful to see so many Shrewsbury pupils gaining representative honours. Their selection reflects the dedication and hard work they have shown throughout the season.

We are incredibly proud of the way all ten players represented their county and their school. Their involvement highlights the strength of hockey at Shrewsbury and the value of engaging with opportunities beyond the school programme. Experiences such as these not only develop hockey skills but also build confidence, resilience and a deeper understanding of high-level competition.
