Willa and James Complete LTA Coaching Qualification

Congratulations to Willa B (UVI, MSH) and James H (UVI, R), who have successfully completed their LTA Level 1 Coaching qualification following a combination of practical training, work experience and assessment.
The course began with two full days of face-to-face training at Bromsgrove Tennis Centre, where they developed their understanding of the fundamentals of tennis coaching and how to support players in a safe, positive and engaging environment.
They then put their learning into practice by working alongside experienced coaches at children’s holiday camps, gaining valuable first-hand experience of delivering sessions and working with younger players.
To complete the qualification, Willa and James undertook a series of online modules and continuous assessments, before submitting video evidence demonstrating their coaching skills.
The qualification gives them a strong foundation from which to continue developing as coaches, and both hope to progress to Level 2 in due course.
Willa said: "I loved having the opportunity to develop my communication skills as a coach whilst gaining more experience working with young children. It was great to have a chance to work within my local community and be on the other side of the holiday camps I attended when I was younger.
"The Level 1 coaching qualification is a fantastic opportunity, and I would recommend it to anyone who has an interest in coaching or simply enjoys tennis!
"I am looking forward to next summer when I will hopefully complete my Level 2 qualification."
James said: "I really enjoyed doing my LTA level 1 coaching qualification over the summer. It entailed two full days of taught topics with a strong focus on teaching and allowing those at the big red level (young kids) to enjoy and improve their game, I also had to do a full days worth of work experience within a summer camp session and coursework which included demo videos, videos and assessments.
"I hope that to complete my level 2 and level 3 in due course to be able to coach tennis at university or even on my gap year if I can complete level 2 and level 3 with enough time.
"I would encourage everyone to complete this, no matter the level you play at as it is a useful and rewarding experience. I have enjoyed my tennis at Shrewsbury school after transitioning to tennis from cricket in 5th form I was able to play 1 team tennis allowing me to mix with people in years above and having a very fun time in fixtures and training with all the coaches and players."
Congratulations to Willa and James on completing the qualification and taking another step in their tennis development.
