Shrewsbury Golf Continues to Flourish

Shrewsbury golfers enjoyed a memorable day at Kington Golf Club, continuing a busy programme of competitive golf and development opportunities at the School.
Kington is the highest golf course in England and provided a spectacular setting, with views across the English-Welsh border and towards the Brecon Beacons.

The golf was of a high standard throughout, with Jake V-C and Humphrey M-E holding their nerve on a crowded 18th green to be crowned champions.
The visit was the latest in a series of opportunities for Shrewsbury's golfers to play at some outstanding courses. Over the past year, the School's lowest-handicap players have competed at Aberdovey, ranked among the UK's Top 100 courses, as well as Aberystwyth and Kington.

Pupils also currently play at Oswestry Golf Club twice each week, alongside internal match-play competitions, Independent Schools' Match Play fixtures and Old Salopian invitation days. The sport is also proving to be increasingly popular as an option with Shrewsbury girls'.
Golf at Shrewsbury has been further strengthened by the opening of the indoor Billy Ward Golf Studio, where pupils can develop their game using a state-of-the-art Trackman IO simulator. Private coaching is also available with PGA Fellow Coach and Professional Steve Thomas.
With regular access to excellent courses, competitive fixtures, leading coaching and cutting-edge facilities on site, pupils at Shrewsbury have an exciting range of opportunities to enjoy and develop their golf.
