U15A Boys Secure Win in ISFA Cup Match

On Wednesday 23rd September, the U15A boys football team travelled to Bury Grammar School for their ISFA Round 1 Cup match.

Having fallen behind to an early goal, an equaliser before half time was ruled out for being offside. After the break, Shrewsbury started to take control of the game, but with a hatful of chances being spurned, time was running out.

With ten minutes to go, Yu S T (Ch) converted arguably the most difficult chance of the game and despite there being further chances to settle the tie for both teams, the scores were tied 1-1 at full time.

Having agreed beforehand that the game would go straight to penalties, an excellent spot kick save by Shay F (R) gave Shrewsbury the advantage.

However, all five spot kicks were needed to win the tie, with jubilant scenes and relief all round at the final whistle. Congratulations to the U15A boys for a well-deserved and hard-fought away win.

We await the draw for our second-round opponents.
