Soaring voices rise up into the magnificent fan vaults of the Cathedral

Chester Cathedral and its monastic buildings formed an impressive backdrop for Evensong sung by the Chapel Choir on Wednesday 27th February. A congregation of one hundred worshippers, consisting of Old Salopians, past and current parents, members of staff, and friends of Shrewsbury School, were treated to some superb singing, rounded off by a rousing organ voluntary played by Arthur Hope-Barton (3rd Form, Ingram’s). A subsequent reception in the Cathedral cloisters, combining drinks, canapes, and a welcome from the Headmaster, Leo Winkley, brought to an end an inspiring evening.
