Congratulations to the Boys’ U17 XI and to the Girls’ U15 XI who both won important matches this week to reach the final stages of their national competitions.

The U17s beat Sedbergh on Wednesday to progress to The Cricket Paper National U17 Cup Semi-Final next week, where they will be away to either Bedford School or Trent College.

Man of the Match Dan Humes scored 120 (his second century of the season) and Xavie Clarke scored 63, in a Shrewsbury total of 271-5.  Sedbergh were then restricted to 207-5 (Peter Clark 2-12).

The previous day, the Girls’ U15s beat Leicester Grammar School. They now progress to the National U15 Cup Quarter-Finals away to St Peter’s Wigan.

They made 136 for 8 in their 20 overs (Harriet Shuker 37, Adelaide Sillar 34*)

In reply Leicester Grammar scored 67 for 8 (Lisette Barden 2/14, Alice Hughes 2/10, Ellie Kynaston 2/9). Shrewsbury won by 69 runs.
