Fencing: Salopian success in the Men's Junior Epée

Congratulations to James Hinwood, who last weekend finished in sixth place in the Leon Paul BRC Men's Junior Epée.

Held at the Leon Paul Centre in London, the event attracted 85 of the top U20 epéeists in the country.

In the first round of poules, James won four fights out of six, giving him a ranking of 25th into the direct elimination stage of the competition.

At the 64 stage he met Ethan Kew (Redhill and Reigate), winning this fight 15-9.

Going into the last 32 stage he met George Morris (Redhill and Reigate), winning 15- 13.

In the last 16, he met Begley-Jones (Redhill- Reigate), winning 15-12.

Into the last eight, he met James Russell (Redhill-Reigate) losing 15-12.

Overall James finished in sixth place, a very creditable performance giving him valuable points in the British Junior rankings.
