Frank Coughlan wins a place in the National Youth Orchestra

Tuesday 6 November 2018

Many congratulations to Lower Sixth Form trumpeter Frank Coughlan (SH) who, after several rounds of auditions, has won a coveted place in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.

On the back of an exciting concert with the CBSO Youth Orchestra last Sunday, in which Frank performed Britten's Sinfonia da Requiem and Shostakovich's Symphony No.7 in Symphony Hall, Birmingham under the baton of Michael Seal, we have recently learnt that he has been selected after a competitive audition process to represent Great Britain in the National Youth Orchestra.

This is even more of an achievement on the trumpet, as places are limited to just six nationally. We look forward to hearing about the prestigious concert venues that Frank will have the opportunity to perform in over the coming year. What a great achievement for a Lower Sixth pupil!

Frank will also be playing the Last Post and Reveille on the bugle at the School Act of Remembrance on Sunday 11th November.
