Galin Ganchev wins Scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music

Friday 23 January 2015

Galin Ganchev (M UVI) has been offered a Scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music to study piano in September, where he will join Henry Kennedy (I) who is currently in his first year as a wind player.

This represents a huge achievement given the terrific competition for places at the Academy, which is one of the foremost institutions for performers in the world.

Last week Galin gave a debut solo piano recital in Milan, playing an extensive programme which also included works by the respected Italian composer Massimo di Gesu, who attended Galin’s concert, and who, through Galin’s piano teacher at Shrewsbury, Peter Bradley-Fulgoni, has become a friend of the Music Department here at the School as well.

Galin is now preparing Rachmaninoff’s 3rd Piano Concerto for performances with the School’s Symphony Orchestra during the last weekend of this term in the Alington Hall. Next term sees him giving a solo recital, also in the Alington Hall.
