The morning session gave the boys from RSSBC time to practise their skills and complete some much-needed mileage on the River Thames.
In the afternoon session, the boys put rivalries aside to combine squads and boated four VIIIs containing both Salopians and Radleians. This experience challenged ‘social norms’ and made for an exciting afternoon of racing.
The boys first raced in a time trial over 1500 metres. Incredibly, just 4 seconds separated the fastest and slowest VIIIs. This led to some very close side-by-side racing in the semi-finals, which culminated in hotly contested ‘A’ and ‘B’ finals. The Salopians in the winning boat were Finnley Parr, Hugo Davies, Henry Lynskey and Gleb Petukhov.
All the boys enjoyed the experience and we look forward to racing Radley again in the near future.
