The standard was always going to be high and in horrendous weather conditions we didn’t get off to the best start, losing 2-11 to Bishop Vesey. After this the team were more prepared for the physical encounters that were to come and upped their game to beat St Joseph’s in match 2, 6-2.
Our third game was to be our toughest of the day against previous tournament winners Bromsgrove. We battled hard in hail and wind and limited the score to 2-8; much closer than other schools in previous rounds.
Game 4 was a tense and excellent match against Higham Lane and finished in a 6-6 draw. Our best match of the day was against Wolverhampton Grammar, who we beat comfortably 7-2.
But in our final game we started to run out of steam and struggled to play to our best, losing to Hereford Sixth Form 2-8.
Won 2, drew 1, lost 3: a good performance from the team, and our best results in the Midlands tournament to date. Well done all, especially Katie Oswald (MSH) who led the team brilliantly.
