The Old Salopian Football Club Dinner is always one of the social highlights of the spring, and this one, attended both by OS footballers and a growing number of OS girls, proved no exception. In the traditional venue of the Warrington Hotel, Maida Vale, (once reputedly notorious for other athletic activities), guests were regaled with the ups and downs of the season by OJ Heywood (S 2001-06 - 1st XI), George Blakemore (Rt 2001-06 - 2nd XI), and Simon Goodman (R 1978-83 - the Veterans). Past Salopian disasters were recounted by Guest Speaker, Matthew Clark (Sixth Form Admissions Tutor), who related the not-to-be-forgotten catastrophe of one away match at Repton (we won’t mention the referee!).
Player of the Year awards were made to Alex Blofield (PH 2005-10 - 1st XI) and Tom Hargreaves (G 2005-10 - 2nd XI), and the Craig Buchanan Award for outstanding service to the Old Salopian Football Club was given to Will Speer (G 1990-92). A memorable night for which many thanks are due to James Tucker (I 2004-09 - Hon Secretary) for presiding over the AGM and to Will Briggs (O 2005-10 - Social Secretary) for organising the dinner.
