Shrewsbury School, and particularly Oldham's Hall, is delighted to welcome the first Cassidy Scholar for rowing since the inception of the award.
Fresh from his appearance at the Coupe de la Jeunesse (European Championships) in Austria, with Salopian team mate Sam Lapage, Harry Lonergan has made his mark in the Boat Club already pulling the quickest 5k ergo time in School - by some 46 seconds. He has settled exceptionally well in his House where he shares his bedsit with 1st VIII crewmate, Max Kimpton-Smith.
Harry joins us from his Thames-based clubs Walton and Tideway Scullers School, where he has been a proven tough competitor in a sculling boat.
We wish him every success and happiness in the Sixth Form at Shrewsbury, and are confident that he will add strength to what should be a good year for the RSSBC.
The Margaret Cassidy Scholarship is an annual award for a boy entering the Sixth Form at Shrewsbury School with a record of outstanding sporting ability in football, cricket or rowing.
The award has been donated to the school through the exceptional generosity of two Old Salopian brothers and named in memory of their late mother. The award is worth up to 100% of the fees, according to parental means.
The Sixth Form Assessment Weekend - for 2012 entrants - is on Friday 11th and Saturday 12th November, during which any candidates for specialist scholarships will also be tested.
