Recent cricket highlights

There was a flurry of important matches for many of our school teams during the last few days of term.

On Tuesday 26th June, the Boys’ U14A XI beat Bridgnorth Endowed School in the  boys won the County Cup Final and thereby qualified for the Lord’s Taverners next year.

The Girls’ U17 XI had a great win over the Shropshire U16s.

The Boys' U17 XI sadly lost to Bedford School in the National Cricketers Cup Semi-Final

On Wednesday 27th, the Girls’ U15A XI beat St Peters Wigan in the National Cup Quarter-Final and therefore qualify for Finals Day in September.  (Shrewsbury 159-3,  St Peters 110-7)

On Thursday, the Boys' 1st XI achieved an impressive win over Uppingham in their annual two-day match. Congratulations in particular to Xavie Clarke for his 126 in the 1st innings.

The Boys' U16 XI competed in Brecon T20 Festival on Wednesday and Thursday and won three of their four matches:
Shrewsbury 150 ao, Christ Brecon 68-7; won by 82 runs
Shrewsbury 104-7, Trinity College Sydney 108-2; lost by 8 wickets
Shrewsbury 78 ao, Gower School Swansea 75-8; won by 3 runs
Shrewsbury 100-7, Wellington College Somerset 97 -6; won by 3 wickets

Many congratulations to Ed Barnard (PH 2012-14) who has been selected for the England Lions, and to 1st XI Captain George Garrett, selected for the England U19s.

The 1st XI are currently playing host to Eton College, Oundle School and Rondebosch School Cape Town in the Silk Trophy, while the Boys' U15XI are away at Eton playing in the Clarke Williams Festival.
