RSSBC 1st VIII retain North of England Headship with a new course record

Monday 25 March 2019

The 1st VIII broke a 72-year-old record with their outstanding performance over the 5,000m North of England Head course on the River Dee on Saturday.

The 1st VIII held off a very strong field that included senior men's club and university crews to retain the headship that they won two years ago. (Last year’s event was cancelled due to river conditions.) The crew were ruthless in their execution, breaking the previous record set by Downing College Boat Club, Cambridge in 1947.

The 2nd VIII also produced an excellent result to come 5th overall.

The Senior Girls’ VIII produced a solid row to come 4th in their event.

The J16 VIII and Quad both won their events to cap off an excellent performance for the Royal Shrewsbury School Boat Club.
