There were strong performances by all the crews, and it was great to see a Shrewsbury crew racing in the J16 girls' eights event for the first time. They came fifth out of 11 boats.
The best results of the day came from the J15 coxed four and the J16 boys’ eight. The coxed four won a fantastic silver medal in a tightly fought race, with second to fourth separated by less than 0.8 of a second.
The J16 eight came third in their semi-final but looked to have a tough challenge to pick up a medal in the final. But they came out strongly and firmly established themselves as challengers to the eventual winners from the Thames Upriver region. They won a well-deserved silver medal.
