RSSH: Running hard, running well

Monday 9 December 2019

It has been a busy week for cross-country, with tremendous performances by our U15 team in the national finals of the English Schools Cross-Country Cup, a win for the RSSH against the Old Salopians, and the annual inter-House Paperchases.

Over 500 schools originally entering the English Schools Cross-Country Cup; just 28 schools - including the RSSH U15 boys' team - qualified for the finals, which were held on the final Saturday of the Michaelmas Term in Spinkhill, Derbyshire.

Competing among the best runners in the country, our talented group gave a tremendous account of themselves, claiming 14th place in the team competition. Will Singleton finished in ninth place - the first time in seven years that we have had a Salopian in the top ten, and a magnificent achievement.

The annual School Paperchases - one of the oldest races in the world - took place on the final Friday of term. See the report: Paperchases 2019
