Shrewsbury School

Shrewsbury Monopoly is launched

Friday 15 November 2019

After months of eager anticipation around the town, the official Shrewsbury edition of Monopoly was launched on Friday 15th November – and Shrewsbury School is proud to be included on the board.

With the Charles Darwin Statue taking pride of place on the ‘Mayfair’ square and Shrewsbury Castle next door as ‘Park Lane’, we are delighted to have been given the ‘Bond Street’ position.

Stuart Cowper (Head of Partnership and Community Engagement), Glyn Ferriday (Director of Marketing and Communications) and Hollie Lister (Marketing Assistant) joined Shrewsbury’s Mayor and Town Crier and representatives of all the other local landmarks and organisations featured on the board for the official launch party, held at Shrewsbury Prison.

“We are proud to feature in the new Shrewsbury edition of Monopoly, celebrating the wondrous town we have been a part of since 1552,” said Mr Cowper. “Shrewsbury is full of heritage and to appear alongside other historical landmarks, as well as our most well-known Old Salopian Charles Darwin, is a great privilege. We hope all players have serious fun playing the Shrewsbury edition of Monopoly.”

The game is on sale in bookshops in the town including Waterstones and WH Smith, and available online. We also hope to sell copies in the Shrewsbury School Shop.
