Shrewsbury reach final of KES Stratford Invitational Rugby Sevens Tournament

Tuesday 3 March 2015

At the King Edward’s School Stratford Invitational Rugby Sevens last week, the 1st VII beat all teams in their pool (RGS Worcester, Magdalen College School, Bloxham) before then defeating the home side, KES Stratford in the semi-final.

In the final Shrewsbury lost by three tries to a very able Stowe outfit.  This is the first time Shrewsbury has reached the final of a major sevens tournament and builds on the success of last year’s VII who reached the semi-final at Stonyhurst.

Pictured are members of the squad after their close loss to Old Swinford Hospital in the quarter final of the Bowl Competition at the Marches Sevens on Sunday 1st March in pretty awful conditions.

The 1st VII’s next challenge is the Solihull Sevens on Wednesday 4th March, with Stonyhurst on 18th March and culminating in the National Schools’ Sevens Tournament at Rosslyn Park on Wednesday 1st April.
