Shrewsbury School has launched its 55th season of music and arts programme with an exciting line-up of events for 2011 and 2012. The 55th season is packed with some fine musical and drama performances which cater for all tastes and ages - from the informalities of open mic nights to the glories of Mozart, with performances of his coronation mass and a concert staging of his opera The Magic Flute.
The season's highlights include:
- The world-renown pianist and former ‘BBC Young Musician of the Year’ Freddy Kempf
- The international award-winning vocal group Voces8
- Traditional folk musicians Phil Cunningham and Aly Baines
- The Philip Clouts Jazz Quartet
- The Carter Wind Quintet
The 2011-2012 programme also includes a wide range of other recitals and concerts; many of the concerts by the pupils themselves are both free and open to the public.
