Wind Prizes 2019

The annual Wind Prize competition took place on Sunday 10th February - and what a competition it proved to be!

There were some truly amazing performances across all classes and the Senior Prize in particular was certainly hotly contested.

The result could have gone many ways but our adjudicator, Anna Hashimoto, a professional internationally renowned clarinettist who alongside performing teaches at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire, decided that this year's prize should be awarded to Owen Fung (SH L6) for his impressive performance of the York Bowen Recorder Sonata.

Awards went to the following:

Junior Class
1st - Phoebe Carter (flute)
2nd - William Singleton (oboe)
3rd - Lem Mandara (saxophone)
Highly Commended - Oscar Edmondson (flute)
Commended - Daniel Grinnall (saxophone)

Intermediate Class
1st - George Pook (saxophone)
2nd - Flora Kanan (oboe)
3rd - Isobel Hatton (flute)
Highly Commended - Jeffrey Li
Commended - Gregor Beardsmore

Senior Class
1st - Owen Fung (recorder)
2nd - Oliver Toms (clarinet)
3rd - Joyce Li (flute)
Highly Commended - Henri Cramsie (oboe)
Commended - Elliot Inger (saxophone)
