Two Salopians into the National Youth Training Choir

Monday 12 December 2011

Sam and Laurence warming up before performing in the final School Assembly on the last day of termWe were delighted to hear that two of our pupils, Sam Ansloos (G LVI) and Laurence Jeffcoate (Ch 5), have auditioned successfully for the National Youth Training Choir (NYTC). Sam and Laurence are pictured warming up before performing at the final assembly on the last day of term.

The NYTC is for singers in school years 9 to 13, and aims to help them to discover an innovative choral repertoire whilst improving musicianship and vocal performance.  The NYTC runs two week-long courses in April and August each year.

Shrewsbury School has hosted a number of national choirs and orchestras over recent Easter and Summer holidays, and look forward to the National Youth Boys' Choir returning here in August 2012, and the National Children's Choir (Junior and Senior) returning both in April and August 2012.

Alfred Mitchell (SH 3) will have the slightly surreal experience of returning to his school in the middle of the holidays in order to take his place in the choir!
