The end of term was marked by the arrival of Lt Col J Moulton RM Commanding Officer of the Royal Marine Reserve Unit in Merseyside, to present the CCF new recruits with their well-earned berets.

The 120 Fourth Form cadets started their service in September.  They've since completed an overnight exercise at Nesscliffe, and taken part in numerous parade afternoons learning about dress, equipment, personal conduct, military history, ration packs, cooking in the field, camouflage and concealment - to name but a few of the basic military subjects.

Cpl HP Young: JNCO Cadre Leadership AwardThe Colonel was accompanied by the Headmaster who also assisted in the presentation of berets.  In addition a number of other awards were made as follows:

Best Recruits
RM Section - Cdt HJL Carter & Cdt CH Thomas
RAF Section - Cdt CW Gillow
Army Section - Cdt HESD Binns

JNCO Cadre Leadership Award - Cpl HP Young

Despite the howling wind and rain, the parade went ahead but was relocated into the CCF Range.  It was a bit of a squeeze but a great afternoon nonetheless, and the cadets had a chance to meet the inspecting officer afterwards.
