Rowers take on Monmouth School in friendly fixture

Wednesday 19 May 2021

On Sunday the 1st VIII took on Monmouth School in a friendly home fixture to sharpen their skills in the lead up to the National Schools Regatta.

The crews raced multiple times over various distances into and against the stream.

The friendly rivalry was great to see and proved productive for both crews. The Monmouth match has been a regular fixture for the crews over the past few years and ironically has seen the crews meet in the draw at the Henley Royal Regatta in both 2018 and 2019.

The Senior and J16 crews are looking forward to competing at the National Schools Regatta at Dorney Lake on the 29th & 30th May.

Third form rowers also had their second opportunity to get out in small boats at Bomere Pool. The persistent rain did little to dampen spirits and the sessions have seen the newest recruits to the Boat Club making significant progress in their first month of rowing. The added bonus of doughnuts and hot chocolate helped everyone warm up when they came in out of the rain or in some cases, out of the lake.
