Geographical Association Worldwise Challenge 2009

Monday 2 February 2009

As a result of Shrewsbury’s excellent performance at the recent regional Geographical Association Worldwise Quiz, where their three teams finished 1st, 2nd and 4th, we have been invited to take part in the national GA Worldwise Challenge weekend.

This weekend will take place next September at Juniper Hall Field Studies Centre near Dorking in Surrey. This is a highly prestigious event with only 18 schools nationally taking part. The winners have the chance to represent the UK in a Geographical Olympiad at the International Geographic Union Symposium in Tel Aviv, Israel in August 2010.

The regional quiz comprised 14 teams from the local area and the winning trio of Charles Newbould, Robert Morgan and Harry Croft received prizes of books and laminated maps from the Geographical Association while the school received a day’s free fieldwork at the Preston Montford Field Studies Centre, who sponsored the event. The day’s fieldwork has been donated to a local state primary school.
