The rescheduled Finals Day of the HMC T20 competition took place at Arundel in the first week of term. This was the third consecutive year that our 1st XI have made it as far as the semi-final of this prestigious competition, and hopes were high for 2011.
The semi-final match was against Wellington College, who had knocked out the two-time winners Millfield to get to the Finals Day. Tension was high both on the pitch and back at School, but our 1st XI managed to defeat Wellington quite convincingly with just 3 wickets down and 5 overs to spare.
Portsmouth Grammar were put into bat in the FinalThe final, and after a good start they ended up being bowled out for 116.
Shrewsbury chased the total down with just 5 balls remaining. Jack Bailey got Shrewsbury off to an excellent start, but it was the exceptional innings from Steve Barnard that really clinched the trophy.

The following day - Thursday 8th September - saw our Under 15 team in Arundel, also through to the Finals Day of their National T20 competition.
Their nail-biting semi final match with Sedbergh was eventually won by Shrewsbury by 6 runs, so our U15As made it through to the finals with Whitgift School, but unfortunately they lost to a strong Whitgift side by 9 wickets.
