Meet the Housemaster...
Sam Griffiths took over as Housemaster of Ingram's Hall in September 2017. He joined from Giggleswick School, where he was Housemaster of Paley, Head of Politics, the Model United Nations club and a rugby, running and cricket coach. He was brought up in Scotland where he was educated at Glenalmond College and Edinburgh University.
Sam has travelled extensively and has a real passion for the outdoors, in particular fell running, sailing and triathlon. As a Fellow of the Royal Geographic Society, he has successfully organised significant adventure challenges, often in aid of charities, that have included: canoeing across Scotland (Great Glen), running the length of Wales along Offa’s Dyke and sailing his dinghy in the East Frisian Islands to examine the credence of Erskine Childer's famous 1903 bestseller, Riddle of the Sands, where a German seaborne invasion is uncovered. These have been published in magazine articles, including Yachting Monthly and on his blog. Boys from Ingram’s and the Hunt have adopted this spirit of adventure, with their ‘Shropshire 3 Peaks Challenge’ for charity and winning the Scottish Islands Peaks Race, a sailing and mountain running adventure race on Scotland’s beautiful west coast. He is an avid reader and follower of current affairs.
Sam is married to Friederike, a dentist, and they have three children, Hamish (2006), Emilia (2008) and Tom (2012) who attend Shrewsbury and Prestfelde.
