This commemorative event, organised by Archie P-S (SH, LVI) will welcome prominent mountaineers and experts to reflect on the 1924 Everest Expedition.
Guests will include:
- Alan Hinkes OBE - the first British mountaineer to claim all 14 of the world’s mountains above 8000m in height. He has survived the Death Zone on Everest five times and K2 three times.
- Dr Charles Clarke - the medical officer on the 1975 South West Face of Everest expedition which placed the first British mountaineers on the top of Everest. Charles is a renowned Consultant Neurologist and international expert on altitude illnesses.
- Julie Summers - the great niece of Sandy Irvine. Julie is the acclaimed author of Fearless on Everest - The Quest for Sandy Irvine.
- Dr Adam Booth - a local GP who grew up exploring the Shropshire hills and learned to climb in Snowdonia. He has climbed Everest twice.
A filmed montage will also be shown, with contributions from Sir Chris Bonington, Graham Hoyland and Rebecca Stephens MBE.
