Futures & Higher Education Old Salopians

The Salopian Club aims to support undergraduates studying in as many universities and colleges as possible, and specifically the top 10 most popular destinations for leavers.

The tour commences with the famous 'Northern Progress' to Durham and Edinburgh in November and also takes in Bristol and Exeter in the Spring. The most recent stop was the King's Arms in Oxford where drinks in the Wadham Room are an annual tradition.

On Saturday Feb 10th around 25 students from Oxford University, Oxford Brookes and one with links to Reading University joined staff who were all alumni of Oxford University : Dr Paul and Dr Jane Pattenden, Dr Helen Brown, Dr Alastair Harden (who taught Classics until July 2023) and Mr Paul and Mrs Holly Fitzgerald for convivial conversation and a drink or two.

Thanks to the staff who gave up part of their half term to support this event and take a trip down memory lane. A particularly poignant journey for Mr Fitzgerald who worked behind the bar in the KA when he was a student!

We'll be in Exeter on Feb 29th and Bristol on March 1st, and hope to see students from Plymouth, Exeter, Bristol, UWE, Cardiff, Bath, Bath Spa and all stations west.
