Old Salopians take part in Vogalonga Regatta in Venice

A group made up of First VIII rowers from 1987 & 1988 took part in the Vogalonga in Venice this month.

The crew was brought together by Adrian Cassidy (R 1984-89), Richard Smith (I 1983-88) and Spencer Cooper (PH 1983-88). They rowed more than 40k finishing on the Grand Canal. The annual regatta is non competitive and attracts more than 8,000 rowers every year. The course includes iconic locations like Sant'Elena, Vignole, Sant'Erasmo, Burano, Mazzorbo, Murano, and the Rio di Cannaregio.

Before travelling out to Italy the Sabrina Club members met with Miles Preston, current Chairman of the Salopian Club and former Sabrina Club President. Miles has rowed the course on 6 occasions and was there to cheer on the 80s crews on June 8th.
