The Sixth Form Assessment Weekend for entry in 2027 is Friday 6 and Saturday 7 November 2026.
Candidates who are entitled to special provision in examinations (e.g. extra time, or use of a laptop) will receive this for their entrance examinations but will need to provide evidence in the form of an Educational Psychologist’s report.

Entrance Assessments
In August of the year before entry, we will write to you to confirm that your child wishes to sit our Entrance Examinations and to send you the application form.
As part of the application, candidates are invited to nominate three subjects in which they would like to be examined. Wherever possible, these should be the subjects they intend to study at A Level. We recognise, however, that many applicants will not yet have made their final A Level choices, and in these circumstances we recommend selecting three of their strongest GCSE subjects. Candidates whose first language is not English will also be required to sit an English as an Additional Language (EAL) paper.
The written examinations are based on GCSE specifications and are designed with the understanding that candidates will not yet have completed their GCSE courses. Each paper lasts one hour. A selection of specimen papers is available to help candidates become familiar with the format and style of the assessments.
Candidates will also meet with a senior member of staff for an interview. This provides an opportunity for us to get to know each applicant beyond their academic profile and is informed by the Personal Statement included in the application form, in which candidates can share their interests, achievements and wider aspirations. We will also request a reference from the applicant's current Headteacher.
The 2026 Entrance Examinations will be held on Friday 6 and Saturday 7 November 2026.
International candidates may sit the written examinations at their current school or at an approved venue, such as a British Council office, a local law firm, or the offices of Academic Asia or UK Boarding Schools. Overseas examinations will take place between Saturday 7 and Saturday 14 November 2026.
Scholarships
Each year, we expect to award approximately eight Academic Scholarships and twelve Specialist Scholarships in Art, Drama, Music and Sport.
Academic Scholarships are awarded to candidates who demonstrate exceptional performance in the Entrance Examinations. Specialist Scholarships are assessed alongside the November Entrance Examinations through a practical assessment and interview, allowing candidates to showcase their talent, commitment and potential in their chosen discipline.
In addition, we are pleased to offer two prestigious sports scholarships:
- The Margaret Cassidy Sports Scholarship is awarded to an outstanding sportsperson and is worth up to 100% of school fees, subject to means testing.
- The Alex Wilson Scholarship is awarded annually to a local sportsperson of exceptional talent and is worth up to 100% of day fees, subject to means testing.
Offers of Places
Candidates will be notified of the outcome of their application by 1 December 2026.
Successful candidates will receive an offer of a place in the Sixth Form, conditional upon achieving at least three GCSEs at Grade 6 and three GCSEs at Grade 5 (or the equivalent of three A grades and three B grades).
Your offer pack will include an Acceptance of a Conditional Place form, which should be completed and returned together with the required deposit. The deposit is 10% of one term's fees. For families whose residence is outside the UK, the deposit is one term's current fees.
Should places remain available following the November Entrance Examinations, we welcome applications from late candidates. These applicants will complete the same assessment process and offers will be made as suitable candidates are identified until all remaining places have been filled.
