The 11+ route of the Shrewsbury Pathway offers pupils the opportunity to join the Shrewsbury Family of Schools in Year 7, at either PackwoodTerra Nova or Prestfelde, and at the same time securing a guaranteed place for Year 9 entry at Shrewsbury.

From the outset, Year 7 entrants will be immersed in our ethos of Serious Fun and whole person education - an approach that nurtures curiosity, confidence and character, continuing through to a seamless transition to Shrewsbury in Year 9.

Life in our Family of Schools offers small classes, inspirational teaching and a vibrant co-curricular programme that blends academic excellence with sport, music, drama and adventure.

Pupils are encouraged to try new things, discover their passions and grow as individuals in an environment that is both ambitious and joyfully engaging.

Why start at 11?

Pupils in the Shrewsbury Family of Schools learn to explore with wonder and to grow with ambition, ensuring they step into Shrewsbury prepared to flourish - both at school and in life beyond.

The 11+ route within the Shrewsbury Pathway offers a truly holistic experience, with the Shrewsbury Admissions Department guiding you every step of the way.

The journey usually begins in Year 5 or early in Year 6 with an informal visit to one or more of our Shrewsbury Family Schools, where you can experience our whole person approach to education and meet our pupils and staff. Families are then invited to register formally via our admissions portal by 1st October of Year 6, although late registrations are always welcome.

The bespoke admissions process then leads to a personalised discussion with the Prep School Headteacher and a series of engaging and fun activities designed to find out more about your child’s character, interests, talents and personality.

Offers, which include a Year 7 place at your chosen prep school and a guaranteed Year 9 place at Shrewsbury, are usually made in the Spring Term of Year 6.

The process is designed to be fast, straightforward, and fully supported – ensuring a smooth and reassuring experience from start to finish.
