Old Salopians Futures & Higher Education

The inaugural Salopians in Finance Society dinner took place on April 30th at The East India Club.

The event was a sell out and provided a valuable opportunity for Old Salopians and parents to make contacts and socialise. Chairman of the Governing Body and the Shrewsbury School Foundation James Pitt (S 1979-84) gave an update on the School before a delicious dinner of carrot soup, roast beef and crème brulee.

After the meal guest speaker Mark Austin CBE (O 1987-92), who has advised recent governments on market reform, gave an optimistic speech about the UK stock market.

Multiple generations were present including three fathers and sons, and one father and daughter. Undergraduates mixed with senior bankers and financiers. One young Old Salopian remarked, ‘The calibre of the people around the table was brilliant and I thoroughly enjoyed all the conversations I had. Best OS event I have been to.’ This was the latest event in our popular programme of professional networking events. The Salopian network isn't just a warm and supportive community it offers practical help and support to Salopian as they make their way in a challenging employment environment.
