The Salopian Club University Tour heads west

It is our aim to meet up with students from the top ten university choices for Salopians, find out how they’re getting on and organise a mini reunion in a local pub.
After a record breaking 60 undergraduates attended our gathering in Newcastle in November, the events in Bristol and Exeter were lower key but no less enjoyable.
Mr Dan Nicholas, Vice-Chairman of the Salopian Club and former housemaster of both Severn Hill and the Grove accompanied me to Exeter where more than 20 students joined us for a drink at the Turk’s Head on a miserable, wet Thursday evening. Exeter is currently our most popular destination for leavers.

The following week I was back in the west country with Head of Futures Chris Wain where a select band of Bristol University and University of the West of England students joined us at The Albion in Clifton Village.

The main topic of conversation was graduate recruitment and the challenges that face our leavers when looking for their first job. It is a key priority for the Salopian Club to do our utmost to support young Old Salopians as they enter the workplace. Along with the Futures Department we are constantly seeking to find new ways of giving youngsters the best possible chance of finding employment. If you would like to help with our careers programme please get in touch with me of Chris Wain [email protected] [email protected]
