Scholarships

Shrewsbury School crest

Shrewsbury School has a long tradition, since its founding Charter in 1552, of making generous Scholarship awards recognising outstanding ability.

These are an important part of our policy to ensure that the benefits of a Shrewsbury education are accessible to those who do not have the means to pay the full fee.

Scholarships fall into various categories - Academic, Music, Art, Drama, Design Technology, Sport and All-Rounder. Awards are made either to pupils under the age of 14 who join the School in the Third Form, or to those entering the School at Sixth Form level.

Contact Admissions to discuss available options and arrange a bespoke visit. Alternatively, book one of our forthcoming Open Days.

Notes for Third Form Scholarship Applicants
  1. The winner of any Scholarship must also reach a satisfactory standard in Common Entrance, the Academic Scholarship Examination, or the Shrewsbury School 13+ examination before entering the School.

  2. When children are successful in more than one category of scholarship (academic, art, design & technology, drama, music, sports, Sir Michael Palin scholarship), the financial arrangements associated with the scholarship which carries the highest level of fee remission will prevail.
